Kaxaml Source Now Available on CodePlex

It’s up there now.  Check out http://www.codeplex.com/Kaxaml.  I have to admit that it takes some guts to throw your source out there for the world to see, but I’ll refrain from more caveats or apologies.  Plus, regardless of what you think, Visual Studio thought the code was just fine.  So there.  Greens across the board (I’m assuming green means good and you should too).

codecomplexity

I’m more than happy for you to use the source in whatever way suits you for your personal edification.  If you want to use the source commercially, please let me know.  I’m also happy to oblige most commercial uses, but I’d like to know how it’s being used ahead of time

Also, if you have time to make changes and think they are check-in worthy, let me know.  Let’s take a look.  I’d love community participation here, but for now I’m going to retain control over the project.

Oh, one more thing.  Unfortunately I probably don’t have time to explain a lot of decisions I made in the source.  If you really get stuck, ping me and I’ll at least try to get you unblocked, but I can’t make a lot of "support" promises here.  I do love hearing from people who are using Kaxaml, but I’m a busy guy like you so exercise your best judgement before sending questions along.  Also, as I’ve mentioned before, Kaxaml was written an hour at a time on airplanes and late at night when I couldn’t sleep.  It can be a little "get’r'done" at times, so proceed cautiously.  There’s some good code in there too of course…so good luck and happy sourcing.

Thanks for releasing this! I’m just starting on a WPF app for a demo at code camp and was wishing I could see how you did the side menu.

For some reason the source file zip seems to have folders and files with the same name. Not sure what the deal is with that, but easy to get around.

    Thanks again!

    Hello,

I had a look at the Kaxam code because I wanted to find out how you had created the cool black layout. Judging from the comments, you used your Simple Styles tool. I downloaded that tool, but I can’t get it to compile - my layman’s guess is that it’s due to simple styles targeting the feb 2006 ctp of .NET 3.0 and me using .NET 3.5 RTM.

Do you have an updated version of simple styles? Maybe you could post that one codeplex too. Thank you!

    Regards,
    Dirk

I am looking for a WPF guru and I’m hoping that you can help! I found you while doing a google search.

What we’re looking for is a solid WPF developer to help develop graphic intensive UIs for a travel booking site and also for a digital download service. I could bore you with intangible, touchy-feely descriptors like “Must have outstanding attention to detail” but instead I’ll just give you the shortlist of absolute, no compromise, MUST have skills:

    1) WPF expert. Not “familiar with” or self-taught, but an actual expert. This will immediately thin the herd of candidates in a major way!
    2) Experience with front-end development of graphics intensive UIs.

Beyond that everything else is icing on the cake. Very, very few people outside of Microsoft have listed WPF on their resume. Instead we are looking for Expression, Blend, and Silverlight and looking for people who might have worked at MS on those teams or contracted at MS. If they worked as a developer (not a designer) and have experience with Expression/Blend/Silverlight then they probably know WPF.

    $90-$100/hr pay rate.

This is a really tough job to fill. We do need the person to be on-site and the project will run through April, possibly longer.

We also pay referral bonuses and give out gift certificates to restaurants in downtown Seattle to those that refer the individual that is placed!

I would really appreiciate any referrals or suggestions on where to look for candidates.

I will be in the office tomorrow morning and can be reached @ 206-340-0247 or via email @ pbeasock@24seveninc.com.

Please feel free to forward this on to anyone that may be interested. The position is onsite 40+ hours a week.

Thank you so much and have a wonderful day!
    Patricia

    Kaxaml source on CodePlex…

Robby Ingebretsen published the source code of his incredibly useful (and beautiful!) Kaxaml on CodePlex. I often prefer Kaxaml over Visual Studio because it combines a bunch of really smart features with a very nice UI that just makes it a pleasure to…

Just come across Kaxaml and I’m impressed!

I’m about to port a .NET Forms 2.0 app to WPF - it looks like Kaxaml will really help.

Also, the visual appeal of Kaxaml provides an added incentive to move to WPF as soon as poss.
